Speak a sweet word, for it costs you nothing

my mom told me a story on my way to a hostel( beginning of new semester, .. end of winter vacation....ah!!)
Once upon a time , a very poor and helpless man went up to a baniya- a grocer - most humbly said to him,
" Seth ji, for several days i have had nothing to eat . Be kind to me . This crumb of dry bread i have some how got. Will you kindly give me a little gur-sugar candy - so that i take my bread with it and appease my hunger?"

The baniya suddenly flared up and spoke sharply,
" begone! Otherwise , i will beat you."

The poor man didn't say anything. He observed that this man was the one to give him a beating instead of gur......
So, he calmly replied " what is the matter, my friend?
why are you angry? if you don't like, don't give me gur but at least be sweet like gur. You have not to spend money on a sweet word." The baniya was put to shame.

We thus learn that everyone should be careful what he says it. One should not be harsh- tongued. If we can't serve anyone by means of our body or money, we should at least talk sweetly and that does not entail any expenses, or loss of anything of our own, nor harms us thereby.

BUT!!!! we do not know what the situtaion will be tomorrow like, and what else will happen to us.
Hence man should not cast off the thing that sweetens our speech, by means of which at least , we can express our sympathy with anyone who has fallen on evil days.
The poorman is already bewildered with difficulties, and our acrid tone is like pouring salt on his wounds by exacerbating his egony .
causing........................................ pain to an already unhappy man is bitter violence, even murder.
That is y harsh words wound the heart like stones do; they cut the heart as by a sharp sword ;
they cause pain as caused by a sharped scissors.

Now i conclude ..... Man should know that is harsh tongue sows thorns for him, forginig, as it were, gallows for him . He thud cut his own throat ....... Who know which breath shall be last? THEREFORE ... ,he should take care to see that no word that he utters is bitter, sharp, caustic or something more than flesh and blood can bear..........

The Tongue makes all this vast difference

"The tongue that enthrones one man may send another to the scaffold"
(my father used to say.......)

I read one article from the hindi news paper danik bhaskar( well my grand ma force me to read the hindi news paper to improve my hindi).. it was very inspiring... so i convert thehindi to english
here i go...

Every living being has what is called... tongue which is as the saying goes ,among human beings,"a three-and-a-half inches long thing"!!! certainly , it ia elastic tp a degree; it can be turned any way you like. But what marks one person from another is the way it is used . There are some in whose speech there are straight forwardness, sweetness and sincerity. their speech is so charming that one would never tire of hearing them speak. What they say is full of affection and good, and this expresses their wisdom and greatness. everyone wishes the rule of person like these establishment here. Are they not truly enthroned in the hearts of all people?

On the other hand, there are those who are harsh. Neither sweetness nor love is to be seen in their speech nor any desire for others' ..... welfare, nor wisdom. That is why they are not liked . there are some others who incite people to burn shops and government offices, break window planes of the buses , and so on and so forth!!!!!! And do you know what people in general think of them?
they deserve to be hanged at the nearest pole. We thus see how this very small thing, the tongue, is emplyed in several different kinds of ways and with different results.

So i hope to control my tongue while speaking rubbish..... i am working on it as new year resolution!!!
